Introducing "Brutal Glam: A Fusion of Architecture and Drag"

In an exploration of contrasts, this project delves into the unlikely yet profound connection between brutalist architecture and the world of drag. Emerging as an emotional response to the harrowing events of World War II, brutalism represents a departure from the sleek, modern movements of its time. Following the exile of its creator, Mies van der Rohe, and in the shadow of existentialist monumentality, brutalism bravely embraces imperfection as the catalyst for emotion.

Much like the drag world's celebration of individuality, brutalism challenges conventional aesthetics by utilizing raw, wild, and primitive materials. The term "brutalism" itself seeks to encapsulate the raw power and expressiveness inherent in the constructed works. Originating from the urgent need for reconstruction after the war, brutalism's aesthetics emerge from the darkness that defined its inception.

Our project aims to unravel the shared narrative of resilience and transformation between brutalist architecture and drag. By inviting inhabitants of these spaces to embrace imperfection as an active principle of emotion, brutalism provides a unique opportunity for individuals to cultivate their own spirituality and, in turn, contribute to positive change in the world.

Witness the captivating dialogue between the shadows of brutalist origins and the expressive power of drag, as we explore the intersections of architecture and self-expression. "Brutal Glam" invites you to reconsider the boundaries of creativity and challenge preconceived notions through a visually striking and emotionally charged exploration of the shared spirit between two seemingly disparate worlds.
